Hydrology and Hydrogeology
Protecting and developing the real staff of life
Surface and groundwater conditions are often critical to project development. EarthFax hydrologists are experienced in dealing with these concerns and can provide the client with both reconnaissance and detailed investigations and designs. In addition, EarthFax has had significant experience in determining the impacts of various alternatives on the hydrologic system and in characterizing existing systems to better define baseline conditions or past impacts.

EarthFax professionals have analyzed the hydraulics of surface-water systems (open-channel flow and reservoirs), rainfall-runoff phenomena, low-flow and peak-flow attributes of streams, and sediment-yield characteristics of watersheds. This information has then been used to design numerous runoff- and sediment-control facilities, conveyance ditches, reservoirs, and other surface-water structures.

Groundwater (either lacking or in abundance) often influences the feasibility of a project. EarthFax personnel have significant experience in examining groundwater conditions in a variety of environments (including unconsolidated media as well as fractured and unfractured bedrock). EarthFax has conducted several investigations to determine groundwater hydraulic conditions in isotropic and anisotropic media, rates and directions of groundwater and contaminant movement, locations of recharge and discharge zones, and proper design to allow maximum resource development with minimal impact on surrounding water users. EarthFax professionals have broad experience in contracting and field supervision of drilling and well-completion activities to both monitor groundwater and produce water for beneficial use.
