Salt Lake City, Utah - EarthFax Development Corporation and its affiliate, EarthFax Engineering, Inc. ("EarthFax") recently signed a cooperative agreement with the German firm, Dr. Bilger Umweltconsulting GmbH ("Bilger"). This agreement gives EarthFax the option to acquire an exclusive license to apply a dispersed sodium technology developed by Bilger for the destruction of fluorinated and chlorinated chemical compounds such as PCBs, solvents, and dioxins.
Commercial application by Bilger of the dispersed sodium technology has been ongoing in Europe for approximately ten years. Treated waste streams have included landfill leachate, PCB transformer oil, and used oil products. Recent work has also shown that the technology is well-suited for the safe destruction of chemical weapon agents. "One of our primary interests in this technology is the potential it offers to provide a safe alternative solution to the inherent risks of destroying chemical agents using incineration technologies," said company president Richard White, adding that this has become an increasing interest of the federal government.
Dr. Bilger Umweltconsulting GmbH is a consulting group of chemical engineers, chemists, and microbiologists located near Frankfurt, Germany. EarthFax is an environmental and civil engineering consulting firm with offices in Salt Lake City, Utah and Lansing, Michigan.
