Representative samples of the sludge(s) and the affected soil should be collected and placed in clean, sturdy containers (i.e., 5-gallon plastic buckets with tight-fitting lids). The lids should be taped onto the container to minimize the potential for spillage. If the samples are being shipped via common carrier, the outside of the buckets should be washed and, if necessary, the buckets should be overpacked into a box or other container to provide protection during shipment. If significant variations in the nature of the sludge(s) and affected soil exist, samples of each type should be collected.
If desired, EarthFax can assist in the collection of the samples. Unused sample materials and cast cylinders will be returned to the client following testing.
Given the variations between sites, the costs for bench-scale solidification/stabilization tests can be precisely developed only after consultation with the client. However, typical costs are presented below for planning purposes, based on past EarthFax experience. EarthFax can assist with these and other services to the extent requested by the client.
