Award-winning experience

Excellence in Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation National Award, presented in 2003 by the U.S. Department of Interior, Office of Surface Mining to Castle Gate Holding Company. EarthFax Engineering provided reclamation design and construction quality control services on this project, which was completed at underground coal mining operations in east-central Utah.  The award was presented "for outstanding performance in developing and implementing exemplary mining and reclamation methods that maintained sound environmental conditions."

Best Practice designation, presented to EarthFax Engineering in 2002 by the Eurasian-American Partnership for Environmentally Sustainable Economies, for work completed on a project to minimize environmental impacts and maximize coal recovery from waste rock at an underground coal mine in the Russian Far East. The EarthFax work was so designated because it demonstrated "environmentally sound and economically efficient solutions to environmental problems in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia." Spirit Award, presented to EarthFax Engineering in 1999 by Ultramar Diamond Shamrock for hydrogeologic and environmental engineering support at the UDS Alma, Michigan Refinery. This award was given to recognize "not only the timely completion of numerous individual projects, but the teamwork that contributed to these successes. Your work maintained high standards of quality under demanding circumstances. Special recognition is given to your ability to clearly communicate complex situations to many of us who were unfamiliar with the site." For more information on this award, click here.

Resolution of Commendation, presented to Amax Coal Company in 1997 for "voluntarily exceeding regulatory requirements . . . to enhance post-mining land use" at a closed coal mine in east-central Utah. EarthFax Engineering provided reclamation design services and construction quality control during reclamation of the site.

Outstanding Achievement recognition, presented to EarthFax Engineering in 1997 by Chevron Products Company and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality for environmental engineering services at the Chevron Salt Lake Refinery. This award was given for meritorious service during remediation of a hazardous-waste management unit at the refinery. The award specifically recognized the core values of the project, namely "protecting the environment, honesty, integrity, teamwork, and trust."

Resolution of Commendation, presented to the Intermountain Power Agency in 1993 for reclamation of pre-existing environmental problems at a coal mine in east-central Utah. EarthFax Engineering provided reclamation design services at the site.
